The Bridge City Jazzmen was formed in 1962 by Don Bruce (trumpet), John Wilcox ( banjo, piano) and Nick Wilcox (double bass, tuba). At the end of that year three new members joined the band, Bruce King (drums), Ray Pilkington (clarinet), and Neil McGough (trombone). During the late 1960s the band went into recess, but formed again in 1994.
Now in 2019 we have Neville Grenfell (trumpet), Merv Tomas (trombone, vocal),Warwick Simpson (clarinet), John Wilcox (piano), Pete McGregor (double bass), and Bruce King (drums)
16 July is a special occasion for the band, as we celebrate Merv Thomas' 88th birthday.Merv has arranged guest artists for the second set.
