Where did the word 'bop' come from? We all know 'be bop' made famous by Charlie Parker , tho' claimed to be 'invented' by Dizzy Gillespie. Whatever, as it evolved it became one of the main drivers of jazz since the wonderful era of the 50s and 60's. Even here in far off New Zealand.
"The New Bop Quintet" is going to bring you the best of both 'time worlds' . Musicians you will have heard and enjoyed playing bop numbers that you will have heard and enjoyed. Think 'So What' , 'Straight No Chaser', ' Greeen Dolphin St', and lots more, Then playing NZ compositions that owe their heritage to the 'birth of bop' era.
