VozNueva

 The Band

Founded in 1987, as VozNueva (Spanish for New Voice), then VoxNova for a while specialising in Jazz Manouche, the band has recently returned to its founding roots as performing vintage and contemporary Latin and Gitanos (Spanish Gypsy).  The band has enjoyed many lengthy residencies, the current one being at Caretaker Bar, Britomart. Self-run concerts are always sold out. The band has hosted musicians from all over the globe, each leaving a trace on the sound and repertoire.

The Music                                                                                                                           Inspired mainly by the Nuevo Flamenco style created by Paco De Lucia, informed by jazz in cooperation with Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin as captured in the seminal album Friday Night Rumba in San Francisco. The report also includes influences from: Brazil, Cuba, Argentina, Columbia and Chile, Russian Gypsy and more.
