The club was formed around 1992 to further the interests of jazz & blues music in Auckland.

The club has a membership of around 250 and has regular club nights every Tuesday evening at the Birkenhead RSA.

Concerts start at 7.30pm and finish at 9.30pm with a break at half time. Meals are available before the concert. Full bar service.

Ample off-street parking. Come early to secure your seating.

Each night features a different local or out of town band.. Sometimes an International star makes an appearance.

Ryan La Valette

Ryan is a 23 year old musician from Auckland who at the age of 2 had a guitar in his hands. Ryan is a multi talented musician with a passion for playing the guitar and saxophone however, he also has the ability to play the bass guitar and piano/keys. Alongside this, Ryan has a distinct passion for straight ahead jazz/bebop, yet his capability to play a wide range of genres is unending. Ryan is a graduate from the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) with a Bachelor of Recording Arts Degree (BRA) and is primarily a session musician, yet he also has expertise in producing, arranging, composing, beat making and performing.

He has recorded with some of the worlds best session musicians – refer to our website for more information.

including Donald Hayes (Saxophonist for Robin Thicke, Queen Latifah, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Bonnie Riatt, Chaka Khan, CeLo Green, Eric Benet, Philip Bailey, TLC and more), Clay Benjamin (Guitarist for, Rev Al Green, James Brown and Kool And The Gang) and Stephen Small (Pianist for Opshop, Leo Sayer and Bonnie Tyler. Throughout his life as a musical creative, Ryan has found inspiration through artists such as George Benson, Norman Brown, Incognito, The Brand New Heavies, Brian McKnight, Will Downing, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations and Everette Harp
