JULIE MASON’S “GAP YEAR PROJECT”

Renowned Auckland-based Kiwi Jazz musicians Julie Mason and Phil Broadhurst are returning to the club with a new look, and more importantly, a new sound! Inspired by their year in Europe in 2017, they have both been working on new and exciting originals projects throughout the year.

JULIE MASON piano/vocals

OLI HOLLAND bass

FRANK GIBSON drums

PLUS SPECIAL GUESTS

PHIL BROADHURST piano

ROGER MANINS tenor sax

& THE FABULOUS BVETTES: linn Lorkin and Maria O’Flaherty

JULIE MASON will be presenting songs from her “Gap Year” project, which she recently debuted at Auckland’s prestigious CJC Jazz Club. Unable to play piano for most of 2018 due to a total fracture of the shoulder in February, Julie turned her not inconsiderable talents to songwriting. So, such delights as “Beaucoup de Croissants”, “The Night I Played At Ronnie’s” and “Caiscais” await your listening pleasure, along with other originals from countries as far afield as Hungary, Italy and Crete (Greece).

Multiple award-winning pianist PHIL BROADHURST has also been busy at the piano, creating some exciting new and previously unheard compositions for a “live in concert” project, which is to take place over the weekend of 1st-3rd March 2019 at the University of Auckland’s KMC.

Plans are also afoot to record Julie’s GAP YEAR PROJECT later in 2019.... something to look out for!
