The club was formed around 1992 to further the interests of jazz & blues music in Auckland.

The club has a membership of around 250 and has regular club nights every Tuesday evening at the Birkenhead RSA.

Concerts start at 7.30pm and finish at 9.30pm with a break at half time. Meals are available before the concert. Full bar service.

Ample off-street parking. Come early to secure your seating.

Each night features a different local or out of town band.. Sometimes an International star makes an appearance.

Gapara Project

Thabani Gapara

Zimbabwean born and raised  Thabani Gapara is an Auckland based saxophonist who has been performing in and round New Zealand for the last 6 years. A recent graduate of the New Zealand School of Music (B Mus Jazz), Thabani has had the pleasure to play as a member in several musical projects in Zimbabwe, South Africa and now New Zealand.His passion for collaboration has seen him work with a plethora of NZ artists including: Batucada Sound Machine, Hipstamatics, Vince Harder, Stan Walker, House of Shem, Three Houses Down and Katchafire to mention but a few.

In the “The Gapara Project” Thabani steps out as band leader presenting original material and and a mix of some arrangements that he and the group have arranged.
